More than 400 experts participated in the 15th edition of the Scientific Days of the Italian Society of Horticulture: research and innovation to promote the Italian horticultural sector

Over 400 experts from the world of research and the operational sector participated in the Scientific Days, held in Pisa from 24 to 27. The event was an opportunity to share the latest research and innovations of interest to the Italian fruit and vegetable sector. The event was opened by the rectors of two universities in Pisa, Prof. Nicola Vitiello of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and Prof. Riccardo Zucchi of the University of Pisa.
The programme included two days of plenary and parallel sessions. The international guest speakers were José Enrique Fernández Luque, an expert in plant eco-physiology from the Instituto de Recursos Naturales y Agrobiología in Seville (Spain), and Cecilia Stanghellini from the University of Wageningen (Netherlands). Pietro Santamaria from the University of Bari and Bruno Mezzetti from the Polytechnic University of Marche were also invited.
There were numerous contributions from young people in the various sessions and the discussions at the end of each presentation were rich in ideas. All contributions are available on the website of the Italian Society of Horticultural Science (SOI).
The scientific days ended with technical visits on the themes of “Viticulture and olive growing”, “Horticulture” and “Ornamental nursery gardening”.
The organisers, Riccardo Gucci and Alberto Pardossi (University of Pisa), Antonio Ferrante and Luca Sebastiani (Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies), would like to thank the two institutions that jointly contributed to the success of this initiative.
