Listening to innovate. The MeS Laboratory of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies is organizing the first annual conference of the PREMs and PROMs Network

The patient experience as a tool for improving healthcare. This is the goal of the First Annual Conference of the PREMs and PROMs Network, scheduled to take place in Pisa on October 13. The conference, organized by the MeS Laboratory of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, aims to strengthen dialogue between the world of research and the operational practices of healthcare companies.
The central theme of the event will be listening as a tool for rethinking and innovating care and assistance pathways, with the aim of sharing good practices and promoting continuous improvement in the quality of care, focusing on the experience and involvement of the people receiving care.
The conference is part of the Surveys on patient experience and outcomes conducted by the MeS Laboratory in collaboration with healthcare companies and Italian regions.
Since 2017, Continuous Patient Experience Observatories (PREMs - Patient Reported Experience Measures) have been implemented in relation to ordinary hospital admission services and outcomes (PROMs - Patient Reported Outcome Measures) for certain care pathways.
In 2024, based on the international PaRIS (Patient-Reported Indicator Survey) project, a survey was developed to assess the experience of local healthcare, with a particular focus on the needs of chronic patients (PREMs Local and Chronic Conditions Observatory).
The Observatories, currently active in Tuscany, Veneto, and Umbria, represent an open and permanent channel of communication between citizens and the healthcare system, capable of collecting stories, suggestions, and acknowledgments, valuing the contribution of professionals engaged daily in care and promoting a more attentive, accessible, and person-centered healthcare system.
Call for posters
Professionals, working groups, organizations, and researchers involved in promoting the quality of healthcare services are invited to actively participate in the conference by submitting a poster. Participation is open to both healthcare professionals and representatives from the world of research, including in joint form.
The aim is to gather contributions that explore how healthcare organizations and governance systems are evolving to systematically integrate the voice of users into decision-making, evaluation, and continuous improvement processes, offering ideas to facilitate a real transition towards a system centered on the person and shared values.
The collection of contributions aims to promote an approach based on actively listening to patients, caregivers, and users; encourage the dissemination of improvement practices that can be replicated in different contexts; and enhance significant experiences developed within healthcare and social-healthcare services.
