The event How Gender Questions Us: Gender Variances in Society and in the Analytical Setting, sponsored by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, represents an important opportunity for in-depth interdisciplinary discussion dedicated to the complexity of gender identities and their social construction—topics of growing relevance in contemporary society.

The conference aims to explore the multiple facets of gender variances, focusing the debate on the contradictions, challenges, and possibilities for overcoming these issues, with particular attention to their implications in clinical practice and social dimensions.

The event will be opened by the Rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Prof. Nicola Vitiello, who will deliver the institutional greetings and highlight the value of initiatives like this in promoting cultural and scientific dialogue on topics fundamental to contemporary society and the academic community.

During the day, Prof. Barbara Henry, Professor of Political Philosophy at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, will give a lecture entitled “Social Construction of Gender: Aporias and Ways Out”, in which she will analyze the main contradictions of the concept of gender and suggest possible paths of overcoming through critical and interdisciplinary analysis.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna headquarters in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, Pisa.

Participation is open to all, free of charge, but prior registration is required via email at genere2025@gmail.com.
