The entire world is suffering the consequences of climate change, and environmental sustainability has become a fundamental pillar in the governance of organizations in all sectors: the sports sector is no exception. In recent years, the awareness of environmental challenges and of the need to adopt sustainable practices has grown also in the sports world, and sports managers increasingly aim to improve their organisations’ sustainability practices. However, it is often difficult for them to know whether they are on the right track due to a general lack of information and tools to measure progress in this direction.
This Project aims to create a dynamic dashboard with standardised indicators, through which sports clubs can be aware of the environmental impact of their activities. Through this tool, they can compare their best practices and environmental performance with other clubs to optimise the efficiency of their actions and facilities over the years.
The analysis that will be carried out as part of this Project will enable sport organisations to create a benchmarking framework to better manage their sustainability efforts. Furthermore, a tool that will allow sport organisations to identify and analyze key environmental indicators would allow to avoid future unfavorable situations, as well as to achieve effective environmental transformation.
B4SS puts together five European Union countries, with the goal of ensuring the widespread adoption of this tool by various sports organizations. The ultimate goal is for B4SS to become a leading environmental management tool for sports organisations, allowing them to successfully implement environmental sustainability practices.
B4SS is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme.
