Stefano Tramacere
Bio
Stefano is a PhD candidate in the National Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Society with a legal scholarship at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and University of Pisa. He obtained his Master's degree in Law summa cum laude from the University of Trento.
His research explores the intersection between law and computer science, focusing on transparency and accountability of the entire process of design, development and deployment of high-risk AI systems for persons in real contexts. His research interests include AI governance, transparency and accountability principles in relation to Explainable AI techniques (XAI), and liability aspects of defective products.
His strength lies in his ability to create synergistic dialogue between legal scholars and computer scientists, facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue between the two disciplines. He is an active member of LIDER-Lab, a legal research group at DIRPOLIS Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, and collaborates with DHAI, a computer science research group at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
During his doctoral journey, he spent a period as a visiting researcher with the interdisciplinary Law, Science, Technology and Society group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he currently maintains affiliated researcher status.
