Admission to Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnologies
The competition for Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnologies is divided into three phases: pre-selection, two written tests and an oral exam.
Pre-Selection
The pre-selection is the first stage of the call and consists in passing the TOLC@Uni or TOLC@Casa test provided by the Cisia Consortium. For admission to the competition, candidates must prove that they have passed the TOLC or TOLC@Casa test in any of the CISIA affiliated offices, starting from February 2025 and within the deadline set by the call.
The competition call requires specific TOLC tests. For Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnologies area two different TOLC are indicated. It will be possible to submit one of the three tests taken, according to the list in the table below.
The type and the minimum scores required to pass the TOLC are as follows:

Once you pass the TOLC with the score indicated by the call, you must register for the competition at this link by 8pm on July 30th, 2026. The list of candidates admitted to the written tests will be published on this page by August 4th, 2026. Any withdrawal from participation in the written test must be communicated via e-mail to the address concorso.allievi@santannapisa.it by August 20th, 2026, date of the last scrolling of the rankings.
Written tests
- An essay on a subject chosen by the candidate between the following options: agricultural/environmental Science; biotechnologies
- A second essay on a subject chosen by the candidate between the following options: plant biology; chemistry; physics
Oral test
A discussion on the subject areas from the written test, and an interview intended to assess a candidate’s motivation/disposition for the School’s programmes, their aptitude for their chosen subject area and for campus life.
The examination tests are held in Italian.Candidates with a foreign qualification whose native language is Italian may request to take the tests in English. The Boards of Examiners may, however, verify in the oral test that the candidate's level of knowledge of the Italian language is adequate to ensure their participation in the training activities envisaged in the chosen course of study.
Winners
Those who successfully pass the competition to enter at Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies will enroll to University of Pisa where they will attend the courses required by their choosen degree programme. At the same time they will attend courses given at the School in a parallel and complementary path of higher education.
For Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnologies area, winners are required to enroll in one of the following Bachelor's degree courses or Single-cycle Master's degree of University of Pisa:

For the duration of the study cicle Honour Students will stay in the residential facilities provided by the School with a free use of the canteen service. The School's colleges are organized according to the university campus model. Successful candidates are expected to start in early October.
