ASSESSING CARDIAC METABOLISM: DR. FABIO RECCHIA, PROFESSOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE IN SANT’ANNA SCHOOL IS THE ONLY ITALIAN MEMBER OF AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION COUNCIL

There is only one Italian doctor, professor of medical science at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies Institute of Life Sciences among 21 experts of the international council that published the scientific statement from the American Heart Association, state-of-the art paper on cardiac metabolism.

The American Heart Association is the oldest and largest voluntary scientific organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, founded in 1924, is recognized as a worldwide leader in cardiovascular science, and, dr. Fabio Recchia, professor of physiology at the Institute of Life Sciences and at the Cardiovascular Center School of Medicine of Temple University of Philadelphia - Pennsylvania, is among the 21 contributors, recruited from around the world - USA, Canada, Germany, UK, Italy, The Netherlands, who wrote the statement.

The “Statement” 43-page paper assessing cardiac metabolism was published in the prestigious journal “Circulation Research” of the American Heart Association, and more than 2.000 people have now read this paper, reflecting the strong interest among researchers and scientists.

The AHA scientific “Statements”, as this paper co-authored by Fabio Recchia, are accepted for publication only after attentive reviewing and assessment by the members of council peer group focusing on the current state of the art care for, in the present case, cardiac metabolism.

This statetment co-authored by Fabio Recchia represents a new recognition to Sant’Anna Institute of Life Sciences. American Heart Association members are required to be judged by recognized international experts as being at the very top of their field.
