Advanced simulation finds a new home at the Barga Simulation Laboratory (BaSiLabo), the ideal place, the gymnasium where healthcare personnel can be ‘trained’ in the performance of clinical procedures, the importance of which appears crucial in an inland area such as the Valle del Serchio, in the province of Lucca, where the low number of cases requires constant training to ensure adequate practice. The advanced simulation centre has been set up as part of the multi-year Proximity Care project - promoted by the Sant'Anna School of Pisa, with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, and involving the Region of Tuscany, the Azienda Usl Toscana Nord Ovest, the Monasterio Foundation, the 23 municipalities of the inland areas of the province of Lucca, and third sector institutions - and its inauguration is scheduled for Monday 9 December at 2.30 p.m. at the San Francesco hospital in Barga (Lucca).

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Caterina Campani, mayor of Barga; Raffaele Domenici, vice-president of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca; Maria Letizia Casani, director general of the Azienda Usl Toscana nord ovest; Michele Emdin and Arianna Menciassi, as project scientific managers, of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna; and Simone Bezzini, councillor for the Right to Health and Healthcare of the Region of Tuscany, remotely.
