POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH GRANTS ON MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHMS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR 3 GRANTS OF 81,000 EURO OVER THREE YEARS ARE ACCEPTED BY MONDAY, MAY 21

Sant’Anna School TeCIP Institute, BHGE - Nuovo Pignone and Regione Toscana authority have announced funding for 3 grants of 81,000 euro each to deliver projects on “Applicazione di algoritmi e tecnologia di Machine Learning e Artificial Inteligence”. Grants applicants have a few more weeks left to submit their projects focused on Artificial Intelligence diagnostic methods and machine learning algorithms for industrial turbo machine systems monitoring. The three-year grants focused on training researchers, graduate, or postdoctoral under 36 years of age, with three-year research experience in academic institutions or research institutes (public or private) who are Tuscany residents at the time of application.

Grants recipients will work at BHGE Italia in Florence under the supervision of Valentina Colla from Sant’Anna School TeCIP Institute and the coordinator of ICT-COISP (Information and CommunicationTechnologies for Complex Industrial Systems and Processes) research center. At present, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence applications, are helping manufacturers to monitor product quality, and optimize manufacturing operations. By deploying AI enhanced technologies and machine learning algorithms to develop innovative processes tailored to specific needs, producers can boost efficiency and enable self-optimizing systems.

Recent reports have found that AI-enhanced predictive maintenance of industrial equipment will generate reductions in testing, maintenance and inspection costs. AI represents a paradigm shift for the factory of the future to respond to unexpected situations by making smart decisions. As a result, AI-supported robots will be more flexible and adaptable.

Various ICT-COISP projects involve machine-learning technologies across Tuscany major areas of operations. Grants recipients will have the opportunity to employ the knowledge gained from a multidisciplinary team that integrate AI and industrial robotic technologies as a powerful way of improving employment prospects and creating technical, highly-skilled roles.
