One of the objectives of the EU LIFE-REWAT project is to develop a strategy for integrated water resources management following a participatory approach. Major activities contributing to the achievement of the above mentioned objective include the design and delivery of regional trainings. On February 8th, Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences and Tuscany Region authority presented a training course designed in three modules:

  • Create an integrated and structured knowledge base on the hydrological system of the Val di Cornia;
  • Develop an integrated governance model for the management of surface and groundwater at sub-catchment scale, based on a participatory process;
  • Demonstrate the technical feasibility and the environmental sustainability of possible solutions for the management of natural and managed aquifer recharge and for general water saving in civil water supply and in agriculture.

The course objective is to train professionals working in the public sector or in private companies. Sant’Anna School Rewat modular training (classes to be held on February 8, 9 and 27, 2017) focuses on innovation practices to accelerate progress toward clean, safe, and sustainable water resources.

Pierdomenico Perata, Rector of Sant’Anna School, Federica Fratoni, Tuscany Region Councillor for the Environment and Ground Defence, and Luca Sebastiani, Director of Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences, welcomed participants and announced the training objectives.

Rewat project has obtained the European funding for Life projects (LIFE14 ENV/IT/001290); the Rewat project team has collaborated with a wide spectrum of partners such as Consorzio di Bonifica 5 Toscana Costa, Tuscany Region Authority, Comune of Suvereto,  Comune of Piombino, and Comune of Campiglia Marittima.
