Starting in December, free guided tours will resume at Palazzo Pilo Boyl, the seat of the Rectorship of the Sant’Anna School
Starting in December, guided tours of Palazzo Pilo Boyl will resume. The building, which houses the Rectorship of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, is one of the most significant landmarks of Pisa’s architectural heritage. Located in the heart of the historic city center, the palace is a refined example of Renaissance architecture which, over the centuries, has hosted prominent families, officials, and distinguished figures, becoming an integral part of the city’s urban history.
The building has recently undergone an important restoration, carried out with the support of the Soprintendenza. The intervention has brought to light original decorations, frescoes, materials, and proportions, revealing once again the elements that characterize the palace and testify to its historical evolution. Today, in addition to serving institutional functions for the Sant’Anna School, Palazzo Pilo Boyl is also a space open to the community, offering the public access to a valuable artistic and cultural heritage.
The guided tours give visitors the opportunity to explore the restored areas accompanied by specialized guides from CityGrandTour, , who will lead participants through a detailed itinerary across rooms, corridors, and architectural features that are often not accessible to the public. It is an opportunity to gain insight not only into the building’s history, but also into the broader social and cultural context in which it developed over time.
Tours will take place on the second and fourth Friday of each month at 5:45 p.m., from December 5, 2025, to November 27, 2026. The months of April and August 2026 are excluded, during which activities will be suspended. Each tour will last approximately 45–50 minutes, allowing for an in-depth experience that remains enjoyable and accessible.
