Partnership with Tuscany Region authority - POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020, Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute, Uscita di Sicurezza Coop, Arca Coop, Pane e Rose Coop, Crea Coop, Gli altri Coop, and the Department of Architecture of University of Florence - Dipartimento di Architettura (DIDA) can provide greater access to assistive robotic technologies.

The two-year project CloudIa aims to improve the quality of life for the elderly and the disabled. Researchers from the Biorobotics Institute coordinated by Filippo Cavallo will address specific issues associated with neuro-rehabilitation to help people with disabilities regain the ability to perform activities of daily living. In Cloud robotic systems will allow enhanced security and energy efficiency by sampling data from body sensors to the system. Patients engaged in exercises will be monitored to perform extensive tasks at home or in the hospital.

Recent advances in actuators as well as Cloud computing have made it possible for robots to be connected and cooperate to enhance dynamic configuration and adaptation strategies. The recent progress in CloudIa project has led to the remote control of robotics architectures. Researchers will develop embedded systems and autonomous control mechanism working at night by using the wireless network cloud and relying on the cognitive stimulus-response. The CloudIa technology presents the features to perform in three environmental conditions: residential care facility, specialist disability accommodation, and home care.
