About us
The Management and Healthcare Laboratory (MeS), established in 2004, is one of the three areas of the Institute of Management of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa. The MeS carries out research activities in synergy with the Interdisciplinary Health Science Centre, with the aim of sharing and developing new knowledge in order to understand the organisational, institutional and regulatory dynamics that characterise complex systems such as the health system. Our team is composed of professors, researchers, research fellows, technologists, technical-administrative staff and PhD students, all united by the commitment to improve the quality and efficiency of health and social-health systems through managerial research.
Our mission is to promote research that generates new knowledge and skills, contributing to the advancement of the scientific and professional communities in the health sector. Our research aims to provide innovative analyses and tools to promote the use of scientific data to support decision-makers and health professionals in improving the management and efficiency of health services.
A distinctive feature of our research is to work alongside public institutions operating in the health system through typical action research approaches to reduce the distance between academia and the real world.
