An excellent training opportunity for those who wish to build or consolidate a career in sports management, with particular reference to football, is offered by the new advanced training course in Sport Management and Sustainability, promoted by the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa in collaboration with ACF Fiorentina. Registration for the first edition, to which a maximum of 30 participants will be admitted, opens on 4 November and closes on 31 December 2024. Applications can be submitted by graduates, university students, post-graduates, and PhD students from different disciplinary backgrounds, with an interest in acquiring specific skills in the management of sports organisations - specifically those operating in the world of football - in order to face future challenges, in particular those represented by the transition towards models of sustainability. The first selected participants will be able to obtain scholarships to cover their enrolment.

The training programme

The lessons will take place in Florence and online from 7 February 2025 to 13 June 2025, with a total duration of 144 hours, divided into 12 training weekends (partly in presence at the Viola Park and partly remotely) and lessons on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. The course will offer a balance between theoretical frontal lessons and practical sessions, with the participation of lecturers from theManagement Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, in particular from the Laboratory on Sustainability Management, and managers of ACF Fiorentina. This integrated approach allows students to put knowledge into practice immediately, linking theory to the operational reality of a major football team. Those taking part in the advanced training course will also be able to attend a home match of ACF Fiorentina, in order to observe ‘on the field’ the practical application of the topics addressed during the lectures. Together with the prof of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the management team of ACF Fiorentina will share their experience and guide the participants in understanding the concrete dynamics of sports management in a high-level professional context.

The statements

‘The advanced training course,' comments Tiberio Daddi, professor at the Institute of Management and scientific head of the advanced training course, ’represents a unique opportunity to acquire specialised skills in the field of sports management and sustainability, two areas of increasing relevance in the global sports scene. At a time when sustainability is becoming a strategic pillar for sports organisations, this course aims to train professionals and managers capable of innovating sports organisations and guiding them in the transition towards more responsible and sustainable models’.

‘Opening the Viola Park and the Fiorentina world to the University - says Alessandro Ferrari, General Manager of ACF Fiorentina - is an important step to underline the values of professional and human growth in which we believe. We have always been attentive also to ‘sustainability’ in the sports panorama: for this reason we have accepted the proposal of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa’.
