Drawing on extensive research and empirical evidence from Sweden, Prof. Anell will explore the real-world impacts of performance indicators, incentive structures, and provider accountability frameworks.
Short Bio
Prof. Anders Anell is a leading scholar in the field of healthcare governance and management, with a prolific academic output and extensive policy engagement having served as a Director of the Swedish Institute for Health Economics, chaired the Swedish Agency for Health and Care Services Analysis, and advised institutions such as the WHO and the World Bank. He was a senior advisor in the Swedish Parliamentary committee on national governance in health care (Vårdansvarskommittén) from September 2023 to June 2025. His research focuses on incentives, resource allocation, performance measurement, patient choice, and the use of health economic evaluations in healthcare decision-making.
With over 200 publications, Prof. Anell’s work has appeared in top-tier journals.
