Overview

This seminar will explore the intersection of technological innovation, public sector transformation, and intrapreneurial practices, drawing on empirical evidence from South Africa. It offers a unique perspective on how digitalisation and local agency are reshaping public sector capabilities and service delivery on the African continent.

Professor Natanya Meyer is a Full Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Johannesburg. Her work bridges academic insight and practical experience, underpinned by a strong personal commitment to entrepreneurial development. She has published extensively on entrepreneurship and economic development, with a focus on women, youth, and enabling environments. Prof. Meyer is actively involved in national initiatives such as the EDHE programme by South Africa’s Department of Higher Education, and maintains strong international collaborations. She also serves as editor, reviewer, and board member for several national and international academic journals.

Professor Daniel Meyer is a Professor of Development Economics at the University of Johannesburg and a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher. He specializes in regional and local economic development, with a strong focus on measurement tools, policy analysis, and the link between macroeconomics and good governance. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and presented at more than 60 international conferences. His multidisciplinary work spans economics, public management, and governance, supported by a broad international network—particularly in the Visegrad region. He is also actively engaged in community development and public discourse through media contributions.
