Robo-Philosophy: Dimensions of Co-Agency (ROBOPHIL)
I EDITION | ON SITE | APPLICATION
Deadline for Registration: March 27th, 2026
Period: May 25th – 29th, 2026
Learning objectives
The main objective of the Seasonal School ROBOPHIL is to provide a compact and focused training on the philosophical, social, political, and technical aspects of the systemic transformations linked to robotics and artificial intelligence, analysed from a perspective that takes into account different philosophical profiles and the multiple dimensions of agency, both individual and collective.
The three educational pillars of ROBOPHIL are the technical and philosophical aspects of new technologies, the social transformations connected to Industry 5.0, and virtual and collaborative co-existence (cobots and AI). These themes will be addressed in a transdisciplinary way, primarily through the participation of moral and political philosophers, as well as social scientists, engineers, and computer scientists.
The topic of technological transformations will be explored in many of its specific and most relevant contemporary articulations (through thematic lectures and highly interactive formats between participants and lecturers): from the history and challenges of robotics and artificial intelligence, to artificial organs, wearable robots, and robots used in care practices, up to cobots, with their philosophical, social, and political implications.
Teaching methodologies
Students will find an interactive and cross-disciplinary learning environment with classroom lessons, and interactive and hands-on activities.
Target participants
PhD students/candidates, postdocs, postgraduate and undergraduate, from different backgrounds in Philosophy, social sciences, or in HRI-related fields (such as engineering and computer science), who are interested in deepening their understanding of robotics, artificial intelligence, and the ethical and social dimensions of human-robot interaction. The 20 available positions will be allocated with priority to PhD students and PhD candidates.
SDGs
The Seasonal School refers to the Industry Action (n. 9) for building aware people in their responsibilities when choosing and acting.
