Giulia Russo
Bio
I am currently a Ph.D. student in Health Science, Technology, and Management, specializing in Philosophy of Psychiatry in a critical perspective.
My background was mainly in History and Philosophy of Science, with a Bachelor's Degree in Italian Literature at the University of Udine and a Master's Degree in Logic, Philosophy and History of Science at the University of Florence (with a thesis on the history of conspiracy theories).
I am currently a visiting Ph.D. student at Lancaster University (UK).
Ricerca
The central focus of my research is Psychiatric Self-Diagnosis, as a concept and as a practice.
The study of this spreading phenomenon has led me to cross disciplinary boundaries between Analytic Philosophy of Psychiatry and Critical Disability/Neurodiversity/Autism Studies (with reference to the Social Model of Disability and the Neurodiversity Paradigm).
I am interested in epistemic injustice and issues of expertise, as well as in Ian Hacking's philosophical work.
I am also a member of the working group on Participatory Research in Autism "ORPA (Officina per la Ricerca Partecipativa sull'Autismo)".
