Bio

Nicola Spezia, PhD in Health Science, Technology and Management and MSc in Management Engineering (Ingegneria Gestionale), is a Research Fellow at the Health Science Interdisciplinary Center of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy). He has conducted research activities at the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano and at the Department of Psychology of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy). He has also been a visiting PhD student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Boston, USA).

Ricerca

Nicola's research mainly focuses on the social determinants of health and public participation processes in prevention and health promotion activities, particularly within the critical context of rural and remote areas. For this purpose, he is extensively involved in the development of the Population Experience Observatory in rural areas of Tuscany (Italy), a participatory research platform investigating local quality of life and well-being. He is also strongly interested in citizen- and patient-reported measures, especially those related to experiences with health and public services.
