Pelin Turan
Bio
Pelin Turan joined Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies as a postdoctoral research fellow in January 2022.
From January 2022 until March 2023, Pelin contributed to the research as well as the project coordination and management tasks of the reCreating Europe (Horizon 2020) project. Since January 2023, she has been working on several other projects hosted by the LIDER-Lab, including but not limited to REBOOT (Horizon Europe), OpenMusE (Horizon Europe), BRIEF (NextGenerationEU) as well as another EU-funded project to produce a “Study to evaluate the effects of the EU copyright framework on research and the effects of potential interventions and to identify and present relevant provisions for research in EU data and digital legislation”.
In addition to her research activities, Pelin has been working as a teaching assistant at LUISS Guido Carli University (Department of Business and Administration) since September 2023. She assists Prof. Denise Amram and Prof. Antonio Davola in “Marketing Law and Regulation” and “Legal Issues in Marketing” courses, while also designing and teaching the trademark law modules of these courses.
Pelin holds an SJD (Doctor of Juridical Science) degree in International Business Law from Central European University (CEU). Drafting her doctoral dissertation by employing critical lenses to copyright and trademark laws, Pelin conducted part of her doctoral research at Columbia Law School as a visiting scholar. She obtained her LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Edinburgh, where her studies were funded by the UK Government’s Chevening Scholarship programme.
Before joining academia, Pelin practised law and concentrated, mainly, on employment law and intellectual property law. She also engaged in the public prosecution of copyright and trademark infringement cases, given her expertise in intellectual property law.
Pelin was certified as a trademark and patent attorney by the Turkish Patent Institute in 2014, and she has been a member of the Izmir Bar and Association of Turkish Bars since 2012.
