Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute as coordinator of “TERRINet” project for a 'European Research Infrastructures’ network of 12 partners at the forefront of research in robotics

Italy will coordinate the first European network of centres of excellence in robotics. The European Commission has delegated to our country and to Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute the role and responsibility of managing the “TERRINet” project to support research infrastructure networks of European interest. The aim of this project is to bring together researchers from academia and industry that strengthen cooperation on international specific robotics research projects through exchange of experience and efficient use of technologies and procedures. This activity will mobilise a consortium of 12 research centres in the field of Industry 4.0 related technology.

The 12 European research centres of “TERRINet” network will provide new scientists with research facilities, technology skills and expertise necessary to meet the new demands for cutting edge automation and robotics programs. New researchers will engage with outstanding scholars and researchers who are investigating critical areas of robotics and artificial intelligence for industrial automation.

With over 5 million in funded grants, the “TERRINet” network is addressing key issues confronting education and national research infrastructures across all Europe, ensuring their optimal use and joint development. The call was announced in 2016 and the European Commission selected 14 projects for funding out of 93 proposals.
