ADVANCED EDUCATION: APPLICATIONS FOR SANT’ANNA SUMMER SCHOOL ON INTEGRITY AND ANTI-CORRUPTION STRATEGY JOINTLY ORGANIZED BY ANAC AUTHORITY AND TRANSPARENCY ITALIA WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL JULY 8, 2019
It is the second year in a row the Summer School on Integrity has been offered by Sant’Anna School Dirpolis (Law, Politics, Development) Institute in partnership with ANAC authority (Anti-Corruption Italy’s National Authority) and Transparency International – Italia.
The program has proven highly effective by providing tools to respond to corruption affecting the public administration by increasing transparency of public policy decisions. This Summer School on Integrity 2019 will be held on July 11-13 focusing on ethics and integrity in the public sector. Strengthening “public integrity” in public organizations involves the concept of 'integrity management', as well as the use of codes of conduct and ethics for promoting effective and ethical public governance. A systemic approach needs to combine compliance-based and value-based elements as public service needs to be just, fair, transparent, responsive to citizens' needs, and compliant with the relevant laws (D.lgs. n. 231/2001), regulations and quality standards.
The topics addressed in the Summer School on Integrity include law enforcement and regulatory response to corruption within public organizations; criminal law and provisions regarding public officials; civil and administrative liability in matters relating to fraud, bribery and corruption; relationships between media exposure regarding illicit activities, public awareness and corruption disclosures.
Participants (lawyers, magistrates, public servants or public officials) will focus on integrity in delivering services and promoting public interests rather than coercing compliance. One module will explore in detail the issues of professional standards of integrity and ethics, which apply at the anti-corruption expertise and public procurement.
